Iran, Gulf States Denounce Israeli Attack on Syrian Town of Beit Jinn

Iran and several Persian Gulf nations have issued strong condemnations following the Israeli military’s ground and air assault on the southern Syrian town of Beit Jinn, an operation that left at least 13 people dead, including children.

Iran (IMNA) - In a statement released Friday night, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei reaffirmed what he described as the inherent right of West Asian nations to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity against Israeli aggression. He said the response of Syrian youth to the incursion constituted a natural and legitimate act of resistance.

Baghaei criticized what he called the Zionist regime’s continued violations of international law and warned that the escalation could have serious consequences for global peace and stability. He also condemned the UN Security Council’s inaction in the face of repeated assaults on the sovereignty of regional states, including Syria and Lebanon.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, denounced the attack on the Damascus suburb as a “brutal massacre,” accusing Israeli forces of indiscriminate shelling after failing to advance on the ground.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said the attack “deepens tensions and undermines efforts to achieve security and stability in the region,” calling on the international community to halt Israeli violations and protect civilians. Saudi Arabia likewise “condemned and denounced the blatant assault” and accused Israel of attempting to destabilize Syria. Kuwait described the strikes as part of Israel’s “destabilizing approach” that threatens regional and international efforts to reduce tensions.

The Israeli raid on Thursday night involved helicopters and drones striking Beit Jinn after Israeli forces entered the town and were surrounded by residents, triggering exchanges of gunfire. The confrontation lasted around two hours before Israeli troops withdrew and repositioned on the nearby hill of Butt al-Warda.
