Iran (IMNA) - Rasouli, who also serves as Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, is joined by key officials including Ali Akbar Marzban and Ali Fathi from the Ports and Maritime Organization.
In his opening remarks, IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez outlined the Assembly’s agenda focusing on the organization’s objectives, mission, and strategic vision. The session includes adopting resolutions on key operational areas and reviewing reports from IMO bodies. Dominguez highlighted the significant work of the Maritime Safety Committee and the Marine Environment Protection Committee over the past two years in improving maritime safety and reducing marine pollution.
He emphasized IMO’s ongoing commitment to support member states in achieving organizational goals, with special focus on enhancing technical cooperation, particularly efforts related to the decarbonization of marine fuels. During the Assembly, Rasouli is expected to present Iran’s positions on important national and international maritime matters, and to hold bilateral meetings with maritime authorities from various countries.
This session of the IMO Assembly, the organization’s highest decision-making body, is set to run for two weeks starting November 24, 2025, bringing together maritime officials from member states worldwide to deliberate on critical global maritime issues.
