Larijani: Enhanced Iran–Pakistan Cooperation Key to Regional Stability

Iran’s top security official, Ali Larijani, emphasized that strengthened cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad can directly bolster stability and peace across the region.

Iran (IMNA) - Upon his arrival in Islamabad early Tuesday, Larijani — Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council — underscored Pakistan’s strategic role in regional security. “Pakistan is an important and influential country in the region, holding a distinguished position in shaping regional security dynamics,” he told reporters.

He noted the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations, adding that expanded cooperation in various fields could significantly support peace and stability amid evolving regional circumstances.

Larijani expressed hope that these matters would be comprehensively discussed during his meetings with Pakistani officials throughout the visit.

Iran and Pakistan have long-standing political, cultural, and security relations. Sharing an extensive border, the two countries frequently coordinate on cross-border security challenges, counterterrorism efforts, trade, and regional crisis management. Their partnership has gained renewed importance as the broader region faces shifting alliances, rising security tensions, and ongoing conflicts.
