Iran (IMNA) - According to Mehr News Agency, the ministry released the full text of its statement regarding UNSC Resolution No. 2803, outlining Iran’s concerns and positions:
The statement reaffirms Iran’s support for any regional or international efforts aimed at ending what it calls genocide and crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza and Palestine, facilitating effective humanitarian aid delivery, and ensuring the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip. However, it expresses serious concern over several provisions of the newly adopted resolution.
Iran argues that a significant portion of the resolution contradicts the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It says the measure imposes a “guardianship system” on Gaza, undermining fundamental rights such as self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Holy Quds as its capital.
The ministry states that the resolution’s drafters have “deliberately ignored” both the UN’s central role and previous UN resolutions on Palestine.
Tehran warns against any move that could legitimize the occupation of Gaza, divide the strip, or separate it from the unified geography of Palestine, calling such outcomes contrary to Palestinian aspirations and potentially dangerous.
Iran insists that any international forces must operate strictly under full UN supervision, with responsibilities limited to monitoring the ceasefire and overseeing the entry and distribution of humanitarian aid.
The statement stresses the responsibility of the global community—and especially the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement—to compel what it calls the apartheid regime and occupying forces to end the occupation and fully withdraw from Gaza. It adds that no decision should alter this requirement.
Reaffirming its long-held position, Iran underscores the legitimacy of resistance against occupation, apartheid, and colonialism under international law, calling resistance a rightful response by Palestinians to ongoing aggression and occupation.
The ministry further states that decisions about the governance and future of Palestinian territories must emerge from Palestinian national agreements and consensus, rejecting any externally imposed solutions.
With Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank facing genocide, imposed famine, and “colonial annihilation,” the statement says humanitarian relief and reopening border crossings must be prioritized.
Iran calls on the international community to apply effective pressure on Israel to stop ongoing crimes, occupation, and violations of Palestinian rights, while supporting the realization of the Palestinian people’s fundamental rights.
Finally, the statement reminds the UN Security Council and its member states of their responsibility to prosecute war criminals and perpetrators of genocide, noting what it describes as the Council’s failure and inaction over the past two years to halt the killing of Palestinians.
