Iran (IMNA) - In a post published Wednesday on X, Araghchi stated that “the heinous lie” claiming the unlawful bombings were motivated by an imminent nuclear threat “has been thoroughly debunked in the past 48 hours.”
He cited two key developments undermining that justification:
– The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who “explicitly stated that Iran is not and was not developing nuclear weapons.”
– Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, a trusted intermediary between Tehran and Washington, who confirmed that “there was never any Iranian nuclear threat.”
“Iran did not kill diplomacy. Those who blew up the negotiating table did,” Araghchi stressed, adding that Israel “targeted diplomacy” because its true fear lies in the collapse of its “Iran Demonization Project.”
The foreign minister urged President Trump to fulfill his campaign promise to end Netanyahu’s manipulation of previous U.S. administrations, emphasizing, “It’s not too late to reverse course.”
Tensions sharply escalated on June 13 when Israel launched what Tehran described as a blatant and unprovoked military aggression against Iran, sparking a 12-day conflict that killed at least 1,064 people, including senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.
The United States later joined the conflict by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites, an act Iran condemned as a grave violation of international law.
In retaliation, Iranian armed forces struck strategic targets inside the occupied territories as well as the U.S.-operated Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military facility in West Asia.
According to Iranian officials, the country’s successful counterattacks on June 24 forced both Israel and the United States to halt their aggression.
