Grossi: No Signs Iran Is Actively Enriching Uranium

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi stated on Wednesday that Iran does not appear to be actively enriching uranium.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking to the Associated Press, Grossi said that while the IAEA has recently detected renewed movement at Iran’s nuclear sites, there is no indication that the country is currently engaged in active uranium enrichment.

He noted that although inspectors have been unable to access Iranian nuclear facilities, satellite imagery has not shown any signs that the Islamic Republic has increased production of uranium enriched beyond previous levels—particularly since the 12-day US-Israeli-imposed war in June.

The conflict began on June 13, when Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked attack on Iran, sparking a 12-day war that claimed at least 1,064 lives, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

During the hostilities, the United States joined the assault by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites, a move widely condemned as a serious breach of international law.

In retaliation, Iranian Armed Forces struck strategic locations across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest American military facility in West Asia.

By June 24, Iran’s retaliatory operations forced an end to the aggression from both Israel and the US.

Following the conflict, the E3 group—Britain, France, and Germany—triggered the “snapback” mechanism under the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). In response, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council suspended cooperation with the IAEA in protest.

Tehran, along with China and Russia, denounced the E3 decision as illegitimate, affirming that they would not comply with it.
