Isfahan Governor: IMNA’s Model of Urban Journalism Should Be Replicated Nationwide

The Governor of Isfahan commended IMNA News Agency for its significant contribution to the city’s urban development discourse, emphasizing that its successful model of professional journalism should be extended to other provinces.

Iran (IMNA) - According to IMNA, Mehdi Jamalinejad made the remarks at the Second Conference of IMNA’s Provincial Managers and Journalists, held under the title “IMNA to the power of Iran <IMNA^Iran>.” He described the agency as an integral part of Isfahan’s municipal identity, noting its long-standing partnership with the city’s governance and cultural ecosystem.

Jamalinejad expressed deep appreciation for the agency’s sustained growth and integrity over the years, remarking that while many media outlets fail to maintain continuity, IMNA has consistently strengthened its position and expanded its influence.

He identified IMNA as a credible, professional, and hope-oriented institution, adding that in a city faced with numerous structural and social challenges, restoring public optimism is among the most vital tasks. In his view, IMNA has played a crucial role in nurturing constructive dialogue despite adversity.

The governor praised the agency’s commitment to accuracy, ethics, and sincerity, describing it as a benchmark for reliable, and high-caliber journalism. He highlighted IMNA’s analytical approach, social responsibility, fairness, and innovation as core values that have positioned it as both a provincial and national media leader.

Jamalinejad further stressed that IMNA’s ability to foster a dynamic relationship between citizens and municipal authorities represents a model of communication that should be replicated across Iran. He noted that few media organizations consistently and effectively address urban management issues, yet IMNA has succeeded in transforming this complex mission into a sustainable and influential dialogue platform.

Underscoring the need for deeper analytical reporting, he encouraged journalists to move beyond surface-level coverage and provide insight that supports better policy and governance decisions. Drawing parallels between strategic media analysis in international crises and its potential in urban management, he emphasized the broader societal value of thoughtful journalism.

Jamalinejad also pointed out that many achievements in municipal management remain undervalued due to the absence of effective media accompaniment. He suggested that IMNA could serve as a strategic communications arm for municipalities and local councils, ensuring that development efforts are properly understood and appreciated by the public.

He called on reporters to prioritize expert, evidence-based journalism, focusing on diagnosing the root causes of provincial challenges rather than merely relaying official statements. He also encouraged the use of accessible language and community-driven content to bridge the gap between citizens and decision-makers, recommending greater use of local perspectives and neighborhood networks.

Highlighting the importance of coordination across all levels of governance, Jamalinejad advocated for closer alignment between national policies and local priorities through consistent engagement with executive bodies.

He also underscored the value of adopting modern communication tools —such as podcasts, social media storytelling, infographics, and short videos—while promoting transparency through data-driven journalism. He proposed that IMNA develop public accountability campaigns and provide regular progress reports on development initiatives designed to foster hope and civic engagement.

Finally, Jamalinejad emphasized that professional ethics remain the foundation of credible journalism, asserting that no level of achievement or recognition can replace the value of integrity, accuracy, and fairness in reporting.

At the conclusion of the event, the Governor of Isfahan was named an Honorary Journalist of IMNA News Agency, and top-performing managers and reporters from across the country were formally recognized for their contributions.
