Iran (IMNA) - Speaking during the 17th episode of the television program “My Isfahan,” Seyed Ali Moarek-Nezhad described Isfahan as “a city of stories and legends,” noting that every corner of the city reflects centuries of cultural and historical depth.
He emphasized that preserving and safeguarding this heritage is one of the municipality’s key missions. “As part of our ‘ 'Isfahan Ascent Plan'; a development plan that includes 60 major projects scheduled for completion by year’s end—the Municipal History Museum is among our most significant initiatives,” Moarek-Nezhad said.
According to him, the museum will document the evolution of urban governance in Isfahan, from the founding of the city’s first municipal institution (Baladiyeh) to the present day. It will feature historical documents, manuscripts, letters, films, and photographs that capture milestones in the city’s management and development. The project, he added, is designed to serve both academic research and the public’s interest in Isfahan’s rich heritage.
Located in Zereshk Garden on Chaharbagh Bala Street near the Metropol complex, the museum is nearing completion and will open by year’s end.
Moarek-Nezhad noted that additional historical materials are being gathered to enrich the collection. To that end, the municipality has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Isfahan Documentation Center to facilitate the exchange of historical documents and oral histories. “Under this agreement, we will also coordinate with the National Archives of Iran to access documents related to Isfahan that are stored in national repositories,” he explained. “This collaboration will help us bring the city’s identity and history to life for future generations.”
Highlighting the municipality’s extensive operations, Moarek-Nezhad said Isfahan offers around 370 public services on a daily basis — one of the broadest service portfolios among Iranian cities.
He also noted that several cultural and civic events are planned for the coming weekend, potentially with the presence of the President and other national bodies.
Moarek-Nezhad concluded by announcing that the latest data and reports on urban planning, research, and development in Isfahan will be unveiled next week, promising “good news and positive developments” for the city’s residents.
