Iran Ranks Among Top 10 Countries in Radiopharmaceutical Use

Iran has secured a place among the world’s top ten nations in the use of radiopharmaceuticals for medical diagnosis and treatment, a senior official announced.

Iran (IMNA) - Dr. Ramazan Ahadi, a member of the Board of Directors of Iran's Nuclear Medicine Society, made the statement on the sidelines of the Iran Med 2025 exhibition, emphasizing the vital role radiopharmaceuticals play in modern medicine.

“With minimal injection of radiopharmaceuticals, diagnostic accuracy improves while treatments become faster and less invasive, with fewer side effects,” Dr. Ahadi said.

He noted that Iran has successfully localized the production of many radiopharmaceuticals, and currently, around 400 medical centers across the country use domestically produced compounds to treat a wide range of patients.

Dr. Ahadi further highlighted that radiopharmaceuticals represent one of the most significant advancements in nuclear medicine, with their application expanding rapidly on a global scale.
