Iran (IMNA) - Speaking to reporters after a meeting with ambassadors and foreign representatives in Tehran on Sunday morning, Araghchi emphasized that Iran has consistently sought fair and balanced diplomatic solutions, but Western countries rejected these efforts with excessive demands.
He noted that previous threats—including military actions and snapback pressures by European countries—failed and only complicated negotiations. Araghchi said, "Experience has shown that there is no solution to Iran’s nuclear issue other than a diplomatic and negotiated one." He added that repeated military threats and snapback attempts by Europeans were ineffective and complicated diplomacy, diminishing Europe’s role and justification for participation in future talks.
Araghchi further explained that the alleged demands from Iran reported in the media were never officially communicated. Recent discussions focused solely on the nuclear issue, either directly or indirectly with the U.S., and Iran’s proposals were transparent. He stressed that had these been taken seriously, diplomacy could have succeeded, but recent UN Security Council developments have made negotiations harder.
The Foreign Ministry will continue diplomatic efforts, though the situation changed after the military attack and snapback activation, and future negotiations will differ. Regarding cooperation with the IAEA, Araghchi mentioned Iran signed a new technical cooperation agreement following security threats and attacks on nuclear sites, replacing the previous framework.
He declared the Cairo Agreement insufficient under new conditions, including snapback activation, signaling new decisions ahead. Iran has pursued all diplomatic channels with constructive proposals to demonstrate the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. Araghchi said there is no reason for Western countries to hinder cooperation or dialogue, affirming Iran’s readiness for confidence-building solutions.
Referring to the Israeli war on Iran in June, Araghchi noted that over 120 countries and most international organizations condemned Israel’s actions, supporting Iran due to its prudence and continuous negotiation efforts. He concluded that Iran remains ready to protect its rights while considering solutions that ensure mutual interests and trust in the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.
