Iran (IMNA) – Following a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry announcing the treaty's activation on October 2, 2025, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated that the agreement, signed on January 17, 2025, by the presidents of both countries in Moscow, entered into force on this day.
The treaty exemplifies the leaders' shared commitment to deepen relations and strengthen cooperation across all fields of mutual interest, anchored in mutual respect, good neighborliness, and common goals. The Iranian Foreign Ministry described the Iran-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty as a pivotal moment in the countries' relationship history, poised to advance friendly ties in diplomacy, economy, trade, science and technology, energy, investment, defense, culture, and more.
By defining priority areas for cooperation, the treaty establishes a clear framework for enhanced collaboration and synergy between Iran and Russia. It aims to secure mutual benefits and promote joint efforts to uphold international peace and security while addressing challenges to the rule of law and the foundational principles of the United Nations Charter.
Both countries emphasized their commitment to upholding the UN Charter's principles to maintain global peace and security and pledged to firmly support multilateralism and international law through reinforced cooperation within multilateral organizations such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
