Iran - (IMNA) – Speaking to reporters after the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Minsk, Overchuk highlighted the strong early impact of the agreement.
“The free trade agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is being implemented proactively thus far,” Overchuk said, as quoted by TASS. “Since May, when it took effect, we observed a significant growth in mutual trade by 35% in July. This is a very sound figure, evidencing that the agreement started working at once.”
Looking ahead, Overchuk noted that a similar agreement with Indonesia is expected to be signed by the end of the year, with all necessary procedures currently underway.
He also pointed out growing interest among other countries, particularly Uzbekistan—an observer in the EAEU—in the agreements the union has signed with third countries. Overchuk emphasized the ongoing efforts to simplify customs procedures and facilitate seamless border crossings through a customs transit agreement within the EAEU.
“These initiatives are generating real positive effects for the economic development of our member states,” he added.
