Iran to Launch Pars-1, Nahid-2 Satellites in Coming Months

Iran’s Space Research Center announced plans to launch two satellites in the near future, marking a significant step in the country’s expanding space program.

Iran (IMNA) - Head of the center, Vahid Yazdanian, stated on Saturday that the remote sensing satellite Pars-1 is expected to be launched in December.

Yazdanian also revealed that the second version of the Nahid-2 telecommunications satellite, developed domestically by the Space Research Center, will be launched before the Ten-Day Dawn national celebrations in February. The Nahid-2 satellite weighs 120 kilograms, is designed for a two-year mission, and will be placed in a 500-kilometer orbit with an inclination of 55 degrees.

The satellite uses chemical propulsion with a one-newton thrust and has an average power capacity of 49 watts. It supports KU, X, and UHF frequency bands, with the KU band enabling satellite relay communications and data transmission—a capability Iran seeks to expand.

During the ongoing World Space Week, Iran plans to announce positive developments regarding Nahid-2’s operational stability and KU-band performance, signaling progress in its satellite communications technology.
