Iran Denounces Arab League Statement as Baseless, Reaffirms Sovereignty and Regional Security Role

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has categorically rejected what it calls false claims and unfounded accusations against the country contained in the final statement of the Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.

Iran (IMNA) – The ministry urged Arab League members to preserve Islamic-Arab unity against Zionist aggression and avoid rhetoric that diverts attention from the central issue—the ongoing genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Reaffirming its sovereignty over the islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, Iran condemned territorial claims against these islands as baseless. The ministry emphasized that Iran’s sovereign measures to safeguard these islands’ security and national interests remain firm, dismissing any assertions challenging this position.

Addressing accusations of military shipments to Yemen or interference in its internal affairs, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied such claims, stating they are fabricated and largely orchestrated by the Zionist regime. It highlighted the regime’s ongoing genocide in Palestine, its aggression in Syria and Lebanon, and supported attacks in Yemen by the United States-backed coalition, arguing these accusations undermine the interests of the Islamic Ummah.

Iran reiterated its commitment to good neighborliness, respect for sovereignty, and non-interference policies while stressing the need for regional unity and coordination against divisive forces.

The ministry underscored Iran’s role as the most effective provider of maritime security in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters, guaranteeing safe passage through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Protecting national sovereignty and freedoms under international law, Iran affirmed its readiness to take any necessary actions to prevent violations.

Emphasizing the importance of lasting security and stability in West Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the Sea of Oman, Iran calls for intra-regional cooperation free from external interference. The country remains dedicated to enhancing regional cooperation towards peace.

Welcoming the Arab League’s strong condemnation of the Zionist regime’s actions in Gaza, Iran stressed the urgent need for all countries to cease political, diplomatic, and economic relations with the occupying regime to halt its atrocities.

Lastly, Iran praised the Arab League’s recognition of the threat posed by the Zionist regime’s nuclear weapons, reaffirming its 1974 proposal for a weapons of mass destruction-free zone in West Asia. It urged regional nations to unite in pressuring the international community and supporters of the regime to eliminate this existential threat.
