Pezeshkian, Iraqi Leader Stress Strengthening Islamic Unity and Iran-Iraq Ties

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Head of the National Iraqi Alliance Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim underscored the critical importance of unity among Islamic countries during their meeting on Sunday.

Iran (IMNA) - Pezeshkian highlighted that ongoing collaboration among Islamic nations is essential for development and resilience against external pressures. The Iranian president stated that continuous unity and cooperation in all areas among Islamic countries will pave the way for progress and prevent any power from sanctioning or defeating Muslim nations. He reaffirmed that geographical borders cannot weaken the deep-rooted ties between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples, which are fortified by shared religious and cultural bonds.

Pezeshkian warned against divisive issues that could undermine Islamic unity and urged vigilance against adversaries’ plots designed to create discord. He emphasized that the strength of the Islamic community lies in solidarity, particularly in opposition to common threats like the Israeli regime, which he described as a tool of American imperialism.

Praising the steadfastness of the people of Gaza and Iran’s recent resilience, Pezeshkian asserted that no military force could break their unity. He also addressed the upcoming elections in Iraq, calling for political cohesion beyond ethnic and sectarian lines to empower Iraq and benefit the broader Islamic community. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to deepening comprehensive relations with Iraq.

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim lauded the courage of the Iranian people during the recent war imposed by the Israeli regime and highlighted the global admiration for their steadfastness. He emphasized the importance of political support from Arab and Islamic nations for Iran, which could enhance cooperation among Islamic countries.

Al-Hakim described Pezeshkian’s visit to Iraq as valuable, noting that Iraqis closely follow Iran’s officials and regard Pezeshkian as honest and straightforward. He called for boosting economic and trade relations between Iran and Iraq, pointing out that current exchanges do not reflect the true potential of their partnership.
