Iran to Propose Resolution Declaring Attacks on Nuclear Facilities Unacceptable at Upcoming IAEA Conference

Iran is preparing to submit a draft resolution at the upcoming International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference, condemning attacks on nuclear sites as unacceptable, diplomatic sources revealed.

Iran (IMNA) - The resolution aims to address growing concerns over the security of nuclear facilities worldwide. The document is currently being finalized and will be formally introduced during the conference, scheduled to begin on September 15 in Vienna and continue for five days.

Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, confirmed Iran’s plan on social media platform X. Responding to criticism from a Wall Street Journal correspondent over Russia’s previous support for Iran’s resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors, Ulyanov clarified the distinction between the Board of Governors and the General Conference, emphasizing that Iran’s current proposal will be presented at the latter. He also criticized anti-Russian commentators for their lack of preparation in such discussions.

The upcoming IAEA General Conference will provide a platform for member states to address key issues surrounding nuclear safety and security.
