Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Praises Pakistan’s Support, Signs 12 Cooperation Agreements to Boost Bilateral Trade

During a state visit to Pakistan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed deep gratitude for Pakistan’s steadfast support during the recent 12-day conflict between Iran and the Zionist regime and United States.

Iran (IMNA) - Following the signing of 12 cooperation agreements with Pakistani officials, Pezeshkian called for elevating bilateral trade from the current $3 billion to $10 billion.

Addressing the warm hospitality extended by Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian described Pakistan as his “second home” and thanked the government, parliament, political parties, and scholars for their strong defense and support of Iran amid recent hostilities. He emphasized the historical, religious, cultural, and spiritual bonds underpinning friendship between the two countries, affirming that Iran regards Pakistan as a brotherly state.

The 12 signed memoranda of understanding cover broad sectors including political, economic, trade, cultural, tourism, transportation, science and technology, agriculture, judicial cooperation, and industry. These agreements set a framework to enhance trade, cultural exchange, academic cooperation, tourism, transit routes, and overall bilateral relations.

Pezeshkian highlighted ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure such as rail, road, and sea transit routes, upgrade border markets, facilitate trade, and establish joint economic zones. Discussions also focused on improving border security to counter threats from terrorist groups and ensure peace for residents in border areas.

Reflecting on the recent conflict, Pezeshkian recalled the 12-day aggression by the Zionist regime beginning June 13, followed by U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear sites at Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on June 22. Iran promptly launched counterattacks, including 22 waves of missile strikes under Operation True Promise III against the occupied territories and missile assaults on the U.S. al-Udeid air base in Qatar. A ceasefire came into effect on June 24, ending hostilities.

The official visit and signing ceremony underscore a mutual commitment to deepen Iran-Pakistan ties across multiple sectors, fostering regional synergy and stable relations moving forward.
