Iran Vows Legal Action Over Recent US-Israeli Attacks on Its Soil

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, has emphasized the Islamic Republic’s firm determination to pursue legal measures following the recent US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking in an interview with the official website of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei during a ceremony in Tehran marking the 40th day of the martyrs from last month’s 12-day conflict, Gharibabadi stated that legal follow-up is a crucial part of Iran’s response.

He underscored that the US and Israel’s actions were clear violations of international law, the United Nations Charter, and human rights. According to Gharibabadi, two comprehensive reports documenting these violations—including the targeting and deaths of children, women, and families—have been prepared, with the documentation process nearly complete.

“The aggressors received a firm response, but now our job is to legally follow up on it,” he said. These reports have been submitted to the UN Security Council and the United Nations for further action.

Gharibabadi acknowledged that political considerations often influence international legal processes but insisted this should not deter Iran’s efforts. He outlined the first steps as registering and documenting the crimes, filing lawsuits, and diligently pursuing justice. Regardless of the outcome, he said legal action must remain a top priority for the Islamic Republic.

The conflict began on June 13 when Israel launched unprovoked attacks on Iran, killing military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. Over a week later, the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear sites, actions which Iran condemned as severe violations of international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

In retaliation, Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic locations within occupied territories and struck the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia. This ongoing legal pursuit reflects Iran’s effort to hold accountable those responsible for criminal aggression against its sovereignty and people.
