Iran (IMNA) - During an unannounced visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Pezeshkian stressed that fostering better relations with neighbors could lead to significant national achievements. He called on Iranian diplomats to adopt a more proactive stance in their international engagements.
Referring to the guidance of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Pezeshkian emphasized the dual necessity of defending the country while prioritizing peace through diplomacy: “If this nation lives in peace, it is far better than being involved in war.”
Touching on recent events, President Pezeshkian condemned the targeting of Evin Prison by the Israeli regime, calling out countries that advocate for human rights yet defend such actions as “shameful.” He criticized the international response to the devastation in Gaza, questioning how European nations and rights organizations could reconcile their stance on humanity with support for, or silence over, what he described as brutal operations against Gaza’s people.
On the domestic front, Pezeshkian stated that his government is committed to maintaining strong connections with the Iranian public, listening to grievances, and working to address national problems. He extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff for their continuous efforts in advancing the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic agenda.
Addressing reporters after his remarks, Pezeshkian highlighted the diplomatic apparatus’s efforts during the recent 12-day Israeli-imposed war, noting that nearly all international organizations—except the Security Council and the United Nations—condemned the aggression.
The president also labeled the Israeli offensive as fundamentally illegal under international law and lamented that such actions are too often justified by world powers. Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s intention to broaden partnerships with countries enjoying positive relations with Tehran, particularly members of BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Economic Union. He noted that cooperation with Russia, China, and other partners would proceed, while ties with Europe and other nations would be managed based on wisdom, dignity, and expediency.
