Iranian, Chinese Foreign Ministers Hold High-Level Talks in Tianjin, Condemn Attacks on Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met on Wednesday in Tianjin for high-level talks focused on bilateral relations and key regional developments.

Iran (IMNA) - During the meeting, Araghchi expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its warm hospitality and the successful organization of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting. He specifically thanked China for its clear position, as the current SCO chair, in strongly condemning Israeli and American acts against Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as their violations of the UN Charter and international law.

Highlighting the longstanding relationship between the two ancient civilizations, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to strengthening comprehensive strategic cooperation with China based on mutual respect and trust. He also acknowledged China’s principled and constructive stance in international forums, particularly at the UN Security Council, condemning attacks on Iran, including the assault on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.

Araghchi updated Wang Yi on the latest developments following these aggressions and underscored the responsibility of the UN Security Council and all governments to maintain peace and stability in the region and globally.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised Iran’s goodwill and its measured, responsible approach in preventing further escalation in the region. He reiterated China’s strong support for Iran’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security. Wang emphasized China’s opposition to unilateralism, coercion, and the use of force, and reaffirmed support for diplomacy and dialogue as means to resolve disputes.

Both ministers reviewed the progress of joint agreements and economic and trade projects, discussing ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Wang Yi also confirmed China’s readiness to assist in international efforts, especially at the UN Security Council, to prevent further escalation and uphold peace.
