Over 120 Countries Condemn Israeli,I US Attacks on Iran, Says Iranian Foreign Minister Ahead of SCO Summit

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Tianjin, China, ahead of the 25th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), set to take place tomorrow. Upon arrival, Araghchi emphasized that his visit aims to participate actively in the summit hosted by the Chinese government.

Iran (IMNA) - Araghchi highlighted the expanding global influence of the SCO, noting that the organization is moving beyond a regional focus to address a wide spectrum of economic, political, and security issues. He stated that the summit will finalize the SCO’s development strategy, particularly in energy, trade, and other sectors, while also tackling key international matters.

The Foreign Minister announced planned bilateral meetings on the summit’s sidelines, including discussions with the foreign ministers of China and Russia, as well as other SCO member states, to review regional developments and enhance bilateral relations.

Significantly, Araghchi underlined that the Israeli and US attacks on Iran and its peaceful nuclear facilities have been condemned by nearly all international and regional organizations, with over 120 countries expressing solidarity and support for the Islamic Republic of Iran. He noted that the SCO itself issued a timely and commendable statement condemning these attacks and indicated that this subject will be thoroughly addressed in his official speech during the summit’s general session.

The recent hostilities involved a series of aggressive actions beginning on June 13, when the Israeli regime launched a 12-day assault on Iran’s military, nuclear, and residential areas. Subsequently, on June 22, the United States carried out attacks targeting three Iranian nuclear sites located in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan.

In response, Iranian military forces launched powerful counterattacks. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force executed 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes against Israeli targets during Operation True Promise III, inflicting significant damage across occupied territories. Iranian forces also targeted the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia, in response to US attacks.

A ceasefire came into effect on June 24, halting active hostilities.
