Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at a meeting with ambassadors, chargés-de-affaires, and heads of foreign missions in Tehran at the foreign ministry's compound on Saturday, Araghchi expressed gratitude to the countries that condemned the recent Israeli aggression against Iran. He stated, "About 120 countries condemned the aggression of the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran."
Araghchi reiterated that cooperation with the IAEA continues, noting, "Iran has been a compliant member of the NPT and has cooperated with the Agency." He clarified, "Our cooperation with the Agency has not stopped, it has just got a new form. From now on, relations with the Agency will be managed by the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC)."
He further explained that the Agency's requests for continued cooperation will be reviewed individually by the SNSC, with decisions made based on considerations of safety and security. "Security and safety are a matter of concern for inspectors approaching attacked nuclear facilities," he said.
Araghchi highlighted the risks posed by recent attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, including the potential spread of radioactive materials or explosions, stressing that these security and safety issues are significant concerns for inspectors.
The Foreign Minister also underscored the necessity of returning to diplomacy, stating, "There is no other way but to return to diplomacy and a negotiated and agreed solution, and the recent war proved this even more than before." He added that the other side must provide assurances of genuine commitment to diplomacy, rather than using it as a pretext to achieve their objectives. Araghchi referenced the initiation of war by Israel and the United States on June 13, which occurred while preparations were underway for the sixth round of Omani-mediated talks in Rome, scheduled for June 15.
