Isfahan Mayor Calls on International Community to Condemn Attacks, Support Civilian Protection

Ali Ghasemzadeh, Mayor of Isfahan, has issued a formal letter to the mayor of one of Isfahan’s sister cities, calling for strong international condemnation of ongoing attacks against Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - The letter, sent from the Municipality of Isfahan’s Office of the Mayor, highlights the grave violations of international law resulting from the current conflict, which has led to significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction of infrastructure.

Mayor Ghasemzadeh emphasizes that the aggressor’s actions constitute a clear breach of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter and have resulted in crimes against humanity, as recognized by the International Criminal Court. He notes that many of the victims are innocent women and children, in addition to Iranian scientists and military personnel.

While acknowledging Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the mayor stresses the ongoing responsibility of the international community. He urges his counterparts in sister cities to use their influence to condemn these violations and raise awareness among their citizens. The letter is accompanied by photographs documenting the impact of the attacks on civilians and urban infrastructure in Isfahan. Mayor Ghasemzadeh concludes with a call for global solidarity and unity in pursuit of peace and security.
