Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi Denies Plans to Resume Nuclear Negotiations with the US Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has categorically denied any plans to resume negotiations with the United States. In a televised interview on Thursday night, Araqchi condemned the US for its involvement in what he described as the Israeli regime’s aggressive war against Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - He emphasized that while Iran was protecting its people’s rights during the previous indirect nuclear talks with the US, the American side, disappointed with the negotiations, chose to adopt a different approach. Araqchi criticized the US military attacks on Iran as a betrayal of diplomatic efforts.

Responding to US President Donald Trump’s assertion that nuclear talks with Iran would resume next week, Araqchi stated, “No agreement has been made on the restart of negotiations. There has not even been any talk of negotiations. The subject of negotiations is out of question at present.”

Araqchi clarified that Iran remains committed to diplomacy, but the decision to resume talks with the US requires careful evaluation. Regarding Iran’s nuclear enrichment program following American and Israeli strikes on its nuclear facilities, he acknowledged that the damage was significant and is currently being assessed.

He added, “It is early to perceive that the ground is prepared for negotiations.”

The conflict escalated when the Israeli regime launched a war of aggression against Iran on June 13, targeting military, nuclear, and residential areas over 12 days. On June 22, the US conducted military strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites located in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan.

In response, Iranian military forces launched powerful counterattacks. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force executed 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes against the Israeli regime as part of Operation True Promise III, inflicting heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.

A ceasefire came into effect on June 24, bringing the hostilities to a halt.
