Iran (IMNA) - Aref made these remarks during a meeting with ECO Secretary General Asad Majeed Khan in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on Friday. He emphasized Iran’s willingness to advance cooperation with the ECO, noting that current global and regional developments necessitate stronger bilateral and multilateral collaboration. “Given its historical background, ECO member states should be at the forefront of these efforts,” Aref stated.
He also underlined the longstanding civilizational, religious, and historical ties among ECO members as a defining characteristic of the organization. Aref identified free trade regulations, transportation, and advanced technologies as key areas for expanding and deepening cooperation. He stressed that establishing free trade regulations is essential for creating a friendly trading environment among member countries.
ECO Secretary General Khan referenced the Iranian president’s emphasis on good neighborliness among ECO members and the importance of inspiring cooperation for the welfare of the region’s governments and nations. He acknowledged Iran’s prominent role as a founding member of the ECO in promoting unity and friendship among member states. Khan also invited Aref to share Iran’s valuable experiences with the ECO Secretariat to help shape the organization’s future vision.
