Iran Declares Uranium Enrichment a Non-Negotiable Right Amid Nuclear Talks with US

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized that uranium enrichment is an essential and non-negotiable element of Iran’s nuclear program, rejecting any notion that it is a “fantasy” that can be abandoned under foreign pressure.

Iran (IMNA) - He stated that halting uranium enrichment, which is part of Iran’s natural nuclear cycle, is absolutely unacceptable. Baghaei affirmed that enrichment is a necessary technology that ensures the uninterrupted operation of Iran’s nuclear industry and is a right granted under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), achieved through the efforts of Iranian scientists. He made clear that Iran will neither seek permission to enrich uranium nor cease enrichment under any circumstances.

The spokesman’s remarks came in response to recent comments by US negotiator Steve Witkoff, who insisted that any agreement must include a prohibition on uranium enrichment. Iran maintains that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes and that enrichment will continue regardless of any deal. Iranian officials have reiterated that dismantling enrichment is unacceptable and that their commitment to peaceful nuclear energy, including enrichment, is an inalienable legal right under the NPT.
