The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Hassan Abbaszadeh, announced on Wednesday that Iran's nominal petrochemical production capacity is projected to reach 105 million tons by the end of the Iranian calendar year 1404 (March 2026).

Iran (IMNA) - Abbaszadeh made the remarks during a meeting with executives from petrochemical holding companies and representatives of the Petrochemical Employers Association. He began by offering condolences for the recent incident at Shahid Rajaei Port and marking Workers' Day, while stressing the critical need for strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols across the petrochemical sector, particularly at terminals and storage facilities.

The NPC chief highlighted the ongoing implementation of a comprehensive safety plan for petrochemical terminals and storage facilities. He urged companies, especially those operating in Asaluyeh and Mahshahr, to minimize the dwell time of products at docks to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Following a recent inspection of petrochemical terminals in Asaluyeh, Abbaszadeh reported that measures have been put in place to allocate land and establish emergency evacuation protocols to support operations at Shahid Rajaei Port.

Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, Abbaszadeh called on petrochemical holdings and companies to provide essential support for terminals and storage facilities, in addition to the NPC’s efforts. He noted that effective cooperation with holding companies has led to significant achievements across the sector, fostering greater synergy and progress throughout the industry.
