Iran (IMNA) - Kulubaev conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the families of the deceased, as well as to the government and people of Iran, and prayed for a speedy recovery for those injured. Earlier, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov also extended his condolences to the Iranian people following the deadly blast and wished a swift recovery for the wounded.

The explosion, which occurred on April 26, 2025, at the Shahid Rajaee Port in Hormozgan Province, was caused by a fire in containers believed to be storing hazardous chemicals, possibly ammonium perchlorate, a substance used in rocket fuel. The blast resulted in a massive fire and a shockwave that damaged buildings several kilometers away.

Official casualty figures vary, but according to state media, at least 46 people were killed and over 1,200 injured in the disaster. Emergency services responded rapidly, evacuating the injured to medical facilities, and firefighting efforts continued for hours to bring the blaze under control. By the following day, most of the fire had been contained, though scattered flames remained.

Authorities in Hormozgan Province declared three days of mourning, and a national day of mourning was observed on April 28. Cleanup and debris removal operations are expected to take about 20 days.

The incident drew international sympathy, with several countries and organizations expressing solidarity with Iran in the aftermath of one of the deadliest industrial accidents in the country’s recent history.
