Tehran Open to Nuclear Deal With U.S. That Protects National Interests

The Iranian president has stated that Tehran is prepared to reach a nuclear agreement with the United States, provided that the deal operates within a framework that safeguards Iran's national interests. He emphasized that he holds neither an optimistic nor pessimistic view regarding the outcome of such negotiations.

Iran (IMNA) - These remarks were delivered during a meeting with governors from various provinces at the presidential compound.

He explained, "From the outset, our government has prioritized the strengthening of political, economic, scientific, and cultural relations with other countries, particularly Islamic and neighboring nations. We also seek constructive engagement with all countries based on mutual respect."

Addressing the nuclear issue, the president added, "In our talks with the United States, we are ready to reach an agreement within a framework that protects our national interests. However, if negotiations are not conducted on an equal footing, we will continue on our current path. As the Leader of the Revolution recently stated, we are neither optimistic nor pessimistic."

He further noted, "By relying on our own resources, we can advance the country. Iranians are capable and skilled, and we never underestimate our own abilities."
