Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Visit China Ahead of Nuclear Talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit China on Tuesday, April 22, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.

Iran (IMNA) - The visit comes ahead of a third round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States set to take place in Oman later this month.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed the visit during a press briefing, highlighting its timing amid evolving discussions on Iran’s nuclear program. Araghchi previously emphasized the important and constructive roles that Russia and China could play as the nuclear talks develop under new conditions.

Iran and the US have agreed to hold expert-level technical talks in Oman on April 23, followed by a third round of high-level indirect negotiations between Araghchi and US negotiator Witkoff beginning April 26.

Araghchi’s visit to China, a key player in the region and a signatory of the 2015 nuclear deal, underscores Tehran’s intent to engage closely with Beijing as it navigates the complex diplomatic process surrounding its nuclear program.
