Iran (IMNA) - Araghchi, who led the Iranian delegation in the talks hosted at the Omani Embassy in Rome, expressed gratitude to Tajani for Italy’s cooperation and coordination with Oman in facilitating this round of discussions. He described the negotiations as constructive and said they were progressing, emphasizing that with continued realism and goodwill, a resolution could be achieved.
Italian Foreign Minister Tajani thanked Araghchi for briefing him on the outcomes of the talks and reaffirmed Italy’s readiness to support the ongoing diplomatic process. He also commended Iran’s responsible approach to the discussions.
The Rome meeting marked the second round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington in recent weeks, with Oman serving as mediator. The negotiations, which lasted nearly four hours, were held with both delegations in separate rooms at the Omani Embassy. The atmosphere was described as constructive, and further technical meetings are scheduled to take place in Oman in the coming days, aiming to develop a framework for a potential agreement.
Araghchi noted that a better understanding was reached on several principles and objectives, and both sides agreed to continue with expert-level discussions before the next high-level meeting.
Omani mediator Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi praised the constructive approach of both delegations, stating that the talks are gaining momentum and that even unlikely outcomes now seem possible.
