Iran (IMNA) - Issa Kameli, Director General for the Americas at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed the Islamic Republic’s strong objection during a meeting with the Argentine diplomat. Kameli criticized the accusations as baseless and politically motivated, describing them as a deviation from the judicial process surrounding the 1994 AMIA bombing case. He claimed the case has been influenced by individuals linked to what he referred to as the “Zionist regime,” using it as a tool to further an anti-Iranian agenda.
Kameli also asserted that the move by Argentina’s prosecutor violates international law principles, including state sovereignty and political independence. He called it a “dangerous precedent” in international relations and warned of potential legal and political consequences for Argentina. Iran, he emphasized, reserves its right to take necessary measures under international law to protect its interests.
The Iranian official urged Argentina’s government to address what he described as a “misguided course” and rectify the situation promptly.
