Qatar, Egypt Welcome Indirect Iran-US Talks Amid Regional Tensions

The foreign ministers of Qatar and Egypt held discussions with their Iranian counterpart, expressing support for the newly initiated indirect talks between Tehran and Washington.

Iran (IMNA) - On Sunday, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi. The two discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. The Qatari official also welcomed the indirect talks between Iran and the United States, which began in Oman and concluded its first round on Saturday evening.

Similarly, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi engaged in a phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty on Sunday morning. They exchanged views on regional developments and the Muscat talks between Tehran and Washington. Egypt's foreign minister reiterated his country’s official support for the negotiations, expressing optimism about their potential outcomes. Araghchi thanked Egypt for its supportive stance and elaborated on Iran's perspective regarding the indirect talks.

Both calls also addressed the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, emphasizing the need for diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire and halt civilian casualties. ‌‌
