Peskov Highlights Rising Tensions Amid Iran's Protective Measures and Diplomatic Concerns

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Iranian authorities are implementing necessary protective measures in response to the United States' harsh rhetoric. "Of course, like everyone else, we hear quite harsh rhetoric… Naturally, the Iranian authorities are taking the necessary preventive protective measures," Peskov told reporters, as reported by Sputnik.

Iran (IMNA) - Peskov also expressed Russia's concern over reports of Iranian troops being placed on high alert, warning that such developments increase regional tensions. He emphasized the importance of dialogue over confrontation, stating, "Contacts and dialogue are always better than confrontational actions that only lead to an escalation of tension."

Additionally, Peskov announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will make a separate visit to Russia to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory Day on May 9. Xi will join other invited leaders at the military parade commemorating the occasion.

In another matter, Peskov condemned the detention of a Russian Foreign Ministry employee in France, calling it "unacceptable" and a violation of the Vienna Convention. He noted that Russian consular representatives were denied access to the detained diplomat for an extended period. The incident has further strained already tense relations between Russia and France. The French ambassador in Moscow was summoned following this development.
