Iran (IMNA) - Isfahan's Mayor expressed enthusiasm for enhancing ties with Russia, given its strategic partnership with Iran. He emphasized that this agreement could be the starting point for impactful transformations and increased cooperation between the two cities. Isfahan, known as the capital of Asian tourism, attracts a large number of tourists from Arab countries, China, and the former Soviet Union, with over one million international visitors and approximately eight million domestic tourists annually.

The Mayor highlighted the city's historical attractions and its growing health tourism sector due to specialized and affordable medical services. He expressed hope that the sister city agreement would lead to significant and beneficial changes for both cities, with Isfahan ready to share its experiences and explore new horizons for exchange.

Kazan's Mayor thanked Isfahan's Mayor for his presence in Russia and noted the historic opportunity for bilateral cooperation in fields such as science, education, and tourism. He praised the unique culture and history of Isfahan and expressed optimism that the agreement would yield valuable and constructive results for both cities.

Kazan, one of Russia's oldest cities with over a thousand years of history, is a cultural, economic, and sports hub, known for its blend of Tatar and Russian cultures. The city is recognized as Russia's "Silicon Valley" and features the Kremlin of Kazan, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Isfahan, with its three UNESCO-recognized sites, is a creative city for handicrafts and folk arts.

The agreement marks Kazan as Isfahan's sixteenth sister city. Isfahan is also negotiating with other cities, including Istanbul and two cities in China. The memorandum of understanding between Isfahan and Kazan includes cooperation in sustainable development, improving citizens' quality of life, cultural exchange, tourism, economics, commerce, industry, urban management, health, and scientific research.

Both cities can engage in cultural group exchanges, event hosting, tourism infrastructure development, economic and commercial connections, and academic exchanges, including student and faculty exchanges, under this agreement.
