Iran (IMNA) - Iranian Government Spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani emphasized the importance of safeguarding national interests during her weekly press briefing on Tuesday.
Mohajerani reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to dialogue, stating, “Iran has always believed in dialogue, and as long as the other side speaks with the language of respect, Tehran is ready to engage in talks.” She highlighted that the discussions would be indirect, as previously announced by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The spokeswoman stressed that protecting national interests and addressing the demands of the Iranian people will be central to Iran’s approach. "Further details will become clearer as the negotiations unfold, and it would be premature to comment on them beforehand," she added. Mohajerani underscored Tehran’s rational and equal-footing stance in the negotiations, aiming for outcomes that benefit the Iranian populace.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier confirmed the indirect nature of the talks on social media, describing them as “an opportunity and a test” for the United States. The negotiations come amid heightened tensions following US President Donald Trump’s recent threats of additional tariffs and military action should nuclear talks fail.
