Iran, US to Hold Indirect High-Level Talks in Oman on Saturday

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Tuesday that Tehran and Washington will engage in indirect high-level negotiations in Muscat, Oman, this Saturday.

Iran (IMNA) - The talks will be mediated by Oman and led by Araghchi and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

In a post on X, Araghchi described the upcoming negotiations as "an opportunity and a test," emphasizing that "the ball is in America's court" regarding progress in the discussions. While Iran has consistently rejected direct talks with the US, it remains open to indirect dialogue facilitated by intermediaries like Oman.

The negotiations come amid heightened tensions over Iran's nuclear program. US President Donald Trump recently stated that discussions with Tehran are in its "best interests" but warned of severe consequences if an agreement is not reached. Despite Trump's claims of direct talks, Araghchi reaffirmed that the discussions would remain indirect.
