Trump and Putin Expected to Discuss Ukraine Ceasefire in Upcoming Call

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are anticipated to hold a conversation next week, according to Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking to CNN, Witkoff expressed optimism about the meeting, describing it as an opportunity for a "really good and positive discussion."

Witkoff emphasized that President Trump remains actively involved in all aspects of the Ukraine conflict negotiations. He revealed that he had recently briefed Trump on his own discussions with Putin and highlighted ongoing U.S. communications with Ukrainian officials. These efforts aim to bridge gaps between the conflicting parties.

The envoy also noted that Trump is kept informed of developments in real time and plays a central role in all major decisions related to the matter. The upcoming call follows Witkoff's recent visit to Moscow, where he delivered a U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, which Ukraine has already accepted.
