Iran (IMNA) - Baghaei reaffirmed Iran's commitment to its "principled positions," emphasizing that the country does not change its policies frequently. He highlighted Iran's role in combating terrorism, particularly its early efforts against Daesh, and its support for regional stability.
Baghaei also noted Iran's opposition to the coup attempt against the Turkish government and welcomed the PKK's disarmament as a step towards strengthening security in Turkey. His comments came after jailed PKK founder Abdullah Öcalan called for the group to lay down arms.
In response to Fidan's remarks about avoiding domination by any single country in the region, Baghaei questioned why Israel's actions were not addressed. He criticized Israel's recent aggression in Syria, including the destruction of military infrastructure and the reoccupation of strategic territories following the fall of Damascus to Turkish-backed forces.
Baghaei emphasized that Iran has not pursued regional ambitions and remains focused on supporting the Palestinian cause against Israeli occupation. He warned against ignoring the influence of the U.S. and Israel in regional instability and highlighted the ongoing issue of Palestine as a pressing concern.
