Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Visits Tehran for High-Level Talks

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday for an official visit to discuss mutual cooperation and regional developments with Iranian officials. The discussions are expected to address the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Iran (IMNA) - The Emir is accompanied by a high-ranking delegation. Iran’s Ambassador to Doha, Ali Salehabadi, stated that the visit aligns with the deep-rooted ties between the two nations and aims to serve their shared interests. Salehabadi noted that meetings between the parties will facilitate deeper cooperation in the political, security, and economic sectors, while also enhancing coordination in addressing regional issues through constructive diplomacy.

Salehabadi referenced Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Qatar, describing it as a significant step in the bilateral relationship that resulted in the signing of several agreements to enhance cultural, economic, and political cooperation. Qatar’s Ambassador to Tehran, Saad Abdullah Saad Al Mahmoud Al Sharif, also emphasized that Sheikh Tamim’s visit underscores the strong relations between Doha and Tehran. Al Sharif added that the visit aims to enhance mutual relations in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, as well as to discuss regional and international issues.

Qatar has been playing a key mediating role in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and maintains strong relations with Iran. Tehran supported Doha during the Arab nations' blockade against Qatar and has consistently maintained dynamic diplomatic ties with the Persian Gulf state. The Qatari Ambassador to Iran, Saad Abdullah Saad Al Mahmoud Al Shareef, described the visit as a testament to the strong and outstanding relations between the two countries. He also noted the visit is an important opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues that require greater coordination and cooperation among regional countries.
