Iran (IMNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi voiced strong condemnation during a phone call with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on Monday, as tensions rise over proposals concerning Palestinians in Gaza. Araghchi described Netanyahu's statement as a "brazen act of provocation," highlighting what he sees as the expansionist ambitions of the Israeli regime. According to PressTV, he asserted that the remarks indicate the "unprecedented recklessness of the occupying regime" and pose "a direct threat to peace and security in the [West Asia] region".
Araghchi also criticized Israeli officials for attempting to erase Palestinian identity through forced displacement and illegal settlement expansion. He referred to President Donald Trump's proposition for the United States to seek "ownership" of Gaza as the basis for Netanyahu's idea, which was presented as a means of "rebuilding" the war-torn territory.
Trump also stated that the over two million Palestinians in Gaza have no right to return following the "takeover," suggesting they would find "better housing" elsewhere. Araghchi rebuked these proposals as a colonial scheme aimed at eliminating Palestinian sovereignty and called for international action against what he described as a systematic effort to undermine the Palestinian cause.
Iran has requested an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address these concerns[5]. Araghchi stressed the need for regional and international cooperation to prevent the "normalization" of what he termed "genocide and lawlessness" by the Israeli regime. He urged the global community to ensure accountability for Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan echoed these concerns, conveying Saudi Arabia's opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians and reaffirming the kingdom's support for Palestinian self-determination.
In addition to governmental condemnation, the Palestinian Resistance Committees have denounced Trump's statements as delusional and indicative of historical American arrogance, emphasizing that Gaza is not for sale and will resist any forced displacement. Hamas spokesperson Abdel-Latif al-Qanoua has also rejected Trump's remarks, asserting that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian land.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, and Jordan have jointly rejected Trump’s proposal to push Gaza’s population into Egypt and Jordan, reiterating that Gaza’s reconstruction must involve its own people and international support, without forced displacement.
