Iranian Academics Warn Against Negotiations with the U.S.

A group of Iranian university professors and scientific elites have voiced strong opposition to any negotiations with the United States, citing potential irreparable consequences for Iran's national security and independence.

Iran (IMNA) - These academics expressed their support for the recommendations of Iran's Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, emphasizing his positions are based on legal and historical evidence.

The professors highlighted Iran's past experiences with the U.S., including the Algerian Declaration and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as examples of Washington's unreliability. They noted that Iran adhered to its JCPOA commitments and made concessions, while the U.S. failed to fulfill its obligations and unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in May 2018, demonstrating a disregard for international law.

The statement also pointed to other instances of the U.S. reneging on international agreements, such as the Treaty of Versailles, the SALT II Treaty with the Soviet Union, the Agreed Framework Agreement with North Korea, and the AUKUS Treaty with Australia and France.

These remarks follow Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's recent rejection of direct talks with the U.S., deeming them unwise and futile for resolving Iran's issues.
