Iran (IMNA) - Iran Unveiled on February 6th, the Shahid Bagheri represents Iran's first drone carrier, enhancing the nation's defense and deterrent capabilities in distant waters. The Shahid Bagheri is designed to support a variety of missions with its capacity to carry multiple helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to Rear Admiral Tangsiri, the carrier can accommodate five helicopters internally, with space for an additional four large helicopters on its runway. It also features eight hangars configured as four double-decker units, providing substantial storage for smaller helicopters.
As a mobile maritime platform, the Shahid Bagheri can launch long-range missiles and sustain long-distance cruise missile operations. The vessel is also equipped with air defense systems to provide air cover and ensure its security against potential threats.
The warship’s capabilities include operating in Force 9 conditions (open ocean) and an operational range of 22,000 nautical miles, enabling year-long missions without refueling. The Shahid Bagheri can deploy multiple drone squadrons, launch and recover unmanned combat aircraft, operate reconnaissance and strike drones, support high-speed attack boats, and carry/operate combat and support helicopters. Electronic warfare systems have been installed to ensure effective defense against threats.
