Celebrations Erupt as Israel Releases 200 Palestinian Prisoners in Ceasefire Deal

On Saturday, the Gaza Strip and West Bank witnessed massive celebrations as 200 Palestinian prisoners were released by Israeli authorities.

Iran (IMNA) - This release occurred just hours after Hamas freed four female Israeli soldiers held captive in Gaza, marking the second prisoner exchange under a ceasefire agreement.

Among the 200 freed prisoners, 120 were serving life sentences for serious offenses against Israelis. Reports indicate that 114 of these individuals arrived in Ramallah, while 16 were welcomed in Khan Younis, Gaza. An additional 70 prisoners were transported to Egypt as part of the deal.

The atmosphere was jubilant as crowds gathered in both locations, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans to celebrate the return of the released prisoners. Live footage captured scenes of joy, with many documenting the moment on their phones.

This exchange follows an earlier swap that took place last week, where three hostages were released in return for 90 Palestinian detainees. The ongoing ceasefire aims to reduce tensions and facilitate humanitarian aid amidst the devastating conflict that has escalated since October 2023.
