Iran (IMNA) - This announcement was made by Hossein Shahabi, CEO of a knowledge-based aerospace company, during a recent exhibition showcasing private sector achievements, attended by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The Kowsar 1.5 satellite builds upon the earlier Kowsar and Hodhod satellites, which were successfully launched into orbit on November 5, 2024. The Kowsar satellite is designed for remote sensing, while Hodhod focuses on Internet of Things (IoT) communications, both playing critical roles in advancing precision agriculture.
Shahabi emphasized that over 85% of the components used in these satellites have been indigenized, highlighting the domestic expertise in their design and construction. Despite facing challenges from sanctions, Iran has leveraged these obstacles as opportunities, with hopes to secure investments for developing a constellation of similar satellites.
Shahabi also underscored the importance of government support in fostering the aerospace industry, calling for state guarantees and pre-purchase commitments to encourage further innovation in the space services market.
