Iran Condemns US-British-Israeli Airstrikes on Yemen as Violations of International Law

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly condemned the recent joint airstrikes by the United States, Britain, and Israel against Yemen, labeling them as “a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.” His remarks came during a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg in Tehran on Sunday.

Iran (IMNA) - Araghchi emphasized that these operations infringe upon Yemen's territorial integrity and national sovereignty, posing a serious threat to regional peace and security. He warned that the repercussions of such actions have impacted all countries in the region. The Iranian diplomat reaffirmed Tehran's support for UN initiatives aimed at improving the situation in Yemen.

In response, Grundberg praised Iran's commitment to contributing to stability and security in the region, particularly regarding Yemen. He underscored the importance of ongoing consultations with Iran on regional issues while presenting a report on the UN's latest efforts for peace in Yemen and detailing his recent visit to Sana'a.

The backdrop of this diplomatic exchange is the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Yemeni Armed Forces have declared their support for Palestine following Israel's military actions that began on October 7. They have vowed to continue their operations against Israeli targets until the assaults in Gaza cease, which have reportedly resulted in over 27,000 fatalities and extensive injuries.

The military coalition led by the US and Britain announced in December aims to support Israel's interests while targeting Yemen, further complicating the regional dynamics.
