Iran, Russia Set to Sign Updated Cooperation Agreement

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei announced that the upcoming agreement with Russia is an update of a previous deal.

Iran (IMNA) - During a press conference on Monday, he addressed questions concerning the long-term cooperation agreement between the two nations, which is scheduled to be signed on January 17. Baghaei emphasized that the agreement encompasses various aspects, notably in trade, economy, energy, environment, and defense and security issues.

He stated, "The negotiation process related to this document has continued in different governments [in Iran]. This document is somehow an update of a previous agreement." Baghaei added that the new document complements and updates earlier agreements approved by both countries since early last summer, with the signing date now confirmed.

Over the past two to three decades, Iran and Russia have significantly expanded their cooperation. Baghaei noted the necessity of updating the previous document to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
