Tens of Thousands Gather in Kerman to Commemorate Fifth Anniversary of General Soleimani's Martyrdom

The fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani commenced with a significant turnout in Kerman, where tens of thousands braved snowy weather to pay their respects.

Iran (IMNA) - Participants are making their way to Soleimani's burial site, demonstrating their commitment to honoring his legacy.

Along the route, numerous mawkibs—voluntary service stations—have been established to assist attendees. The atmosphere is marked by a sense of solidarity and remembrance as Iranians gather to commemorate the general who was assassinated by a U.S. drone strike on January 3, 2020, an operation ordered by former President Donald Trump. This strike also claimed the life of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units.

Both Iran and Iraq have repeatedly asserted their right under international law to pursue justice against those responsible for the assassination, emphasizing their commitment to holding accountable the perpetrators and organizers behind this act.
