Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin Strengthen China-Russia Relations in New Year Greetings

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a New Year message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the enduring partnership between Beijing and Moscow.

Iran (IMNA) - In his message, Xi noted that the two nations have consistently worked "hand in hand" along the path of non-alliance, non-confrontation, and without targeting any third party.

He highlighted that under their leadership, mutual trust and strategic coordination continue to strengthen, as reported by Xinhua news agency and Reuters.

Xi expressed his readiness to maintain close exchanges with Putin to further consolidate and deepen the ties characterized by a permanent good-neighborly friendship. He also mentioned that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral relationship.

According to Russia's state-run RIA news agency, Xi is expected to visit Russia in 2025. Ambassador Igor Morgulov indicated that preparations for bilateral events are underway, with Xi's visit being a key priority. While China's foreign ministry did not confirm this visit, it reiterated the close contacts maintained at all levels between the two countries.

Putin previously visited China in February 2022, shortly before launching a military operation in Ukraine, during which he declared a "no limits" partnership. He returned to Beijing in May 2023 after his re-election, signifying a new era focused on opposing U.S. policies.

In recent exchanges, Xi was welcomed as a "dear friend" in the Kremlin after securing his historic third term. Morgulov noted that while China has not condemned Russia's actions in Ukraine, it acknowledges the shared challenges both nations face amid rising pressure from the U.S. and its allies in the Asia-Pacific region.

In early December, Putin remarked that relations between Russia and China have reached an "unprecedented level," reflecting strong mutual trust between the two nations.
