Iran (IMNA) -During a meeting with Iranian students in St. Petersburg, Jalali stated that both countries are prepared to sign the deal, marking a significant step in their bilateral relations.
The upcoming agreement aims to strengthen cooperation across various sectors, including energy, manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture. This follows a long-term cooperation deal established in 2001, which was initially set for ten years but has been extended until 2026. The new pact is expected to outline the framework for collaboration over the next two decades.
Jalali emphasized the importance of economic projects such as the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and initiatives for transferring Russian gas to Iran. He also noted that increased participation from Iranian businessmen in Russia could enhance economic ties further.
The two nations have been strengthening their relationship amid ongoing Western sanctions. Recent visits by Russian Deputy Prime Ministers Vitaly Savelyev and Alexei Overchuk to Tehran included discussions with President Pezeshkian and other Iranian officials, indicating a robust commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation.
